DESICCANT BREATHERS

The Tempo Desiccant air filters use an absorbent material to dry moist air. Some models also contain active carbon particles to prevent gas odorsUsing activated carbon will also eliminate the oil smell.

When the water vapor from the moist compressed air is exchanged into the desiccant, it gradually becomes saturated with adsorbed water. As the air is passed through the filter, a desiccant breather removes humidity. The goal is to dry the air before it enters the reservoir. Particles in the air are removed by mechanical filters when they’re built.

To keep the class at the desired value, the Air Filters and Breathers are the best complements to the hydraulic filters. Breathers are used on hydraulic tanks, lubricating oil systems, and gearboxes.

The top of the tank reservoir should have air filters fitted to clean any air that enters the reservoir as the fluid level drops from normal system cycling. The breathers form a barrier between the air entering and exiting the free-air space above the level of hydraulic oil in the tank reservoir. An important anti-contamination method in a modern-day hydraulic system is the air-breathers.

Benefits for the user:

  • Unless the ambient air has been filtered, it will not enter the reservoir.
  • The system should be protected from airborne particulate contamination and moisture.
  • The purpose of the casing is to maintain air pressure over the hydraulic oil to prevent cavitation in the pump.
  • Keeps the system dry.
  • It shortens the time between required maintenance intervals and reduces operating costs.
